It is also known as Navajo County Route 8 and Arizona State Route 163. This scenic highway stretches from Kayenta, Arizona to the Four Corners Monument in Teec Nos Pos, Arizona.

The highway weaves through red rock canyons and high plateaus. Stop at any point for a magnificent view of the desert horizon and surrounding mountains, like Mt. Taylor and Shiprock Peak. A visit here might be the most memorable part of your road trip experience!

Many people recommend driving this road late in the day when you can watch the sunset on top of some famous landmarks such as Bear Butte or Table Top Mountain.

The Hana Highway (Hawaii)

Route 66 (Nationwide)

The Mother Road is a well-known road trip destination for people looking for something different than sitting on an airplane or staying in a crowded hotel room. Though this historic highway stretches from Chicago to Los Angeles, it is not just one long unbroken road — there are well over 10 official U.S. Route 66 segments that were designated by Congress with a number designation to be used for the nation’s highway system.

Travel Route 66 and experience family charm, quirky roadside attractions, and a slow-paced past that is hard to forget. Even though many of the original features of Route 66 no longer exist because it was decommissioned in 1985, there are still plenty of places to see on your way across America!

Trail Ridge Road (Colorado)

This is the highest continuous paved road in the United States. It starts at Milner Pass and winds its way up to 12,183 feet above sea level at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Big Horseshoe Curve: This curve in the highway was constructed just for horses and mules! Do not try to cut this corner when you are driving a car or truck; it will be too dangerous! The curve used to fit 24 rail cars before it was widened in 1929. 

Indian Summer Amphitheater: This is a great place to stop if you like taking pictures of scenery, wildlife, or waterfalls. You might even recognize this place from the movie “Little Big Man”.  

Kawuneeche Valley: This area is also known as the Valley of the Winds because of its constantly changing weather conditions. If you are hiking around, be sure to watch out for extreme weather while taking in some beautiful views.
