The 7 Best Apps for Daily Drivers!

The 7 Best Apps for Daily Drivers!

More and more drivers use APPs to make their daily commute more fun and exciting. The daily commute can be boring and slow at times. Most commuters do the same thing every day. They get in their car, listen to the radio or an audiobook, and arrive at work relaxed. Sometimes you want something different though! Maybe you are sick of listening to political talk shows. Or perhaps you don’t want to hear another book on your drive home because it makes for a longer ride? Listening to music can be fun until you reach for that tune between 90’s dance songs, which was your 6th choice after trying all of your favorites.

Podcast Apps

The best way to pass time is by listening to podcasts while driving. Podcasts allow drivers to learn new things about interesting topics instead of hearing about politics or getting bored with music they have heard several times before.

A great podcast app is Overcast. The user interface is well designed and easy to use, which makes it fun for daily drivers! Another app called ‘Pocket Casts’ has a similar design concept to Overcast’s UI. Pocket Casts is also a great download because of its alternate functionality. Users can save episodes for later or set up multiple playlists based on different categories including Comedy, Entertainment News, Science/Technology, Politics, etc…

Top Music Apps

Everyone loves music! Driving can be more enjoyable when listening to your favorite tunes. There are a ton of ways to listen to music on the go. Some apps are free while others require a monthly subscription fee.

A popular choice is Spotify, which requires a paid membership fee of $9.99 per month (the first three months are free). Free features include listening offline or with limited data use, customizable playlists, and unlimited skips. While premium users get access to ad-free playback, higher audio quality, and an extended library!

Another great app for music is iHeartRadio. All you need is a WiFi connection or cellular data in order to listen! Plus it’s free!!

Car Mode Apps

We all know how dangerous it can be when someone is trying to reach us while we are driving… But what if they are trying to tell us something important? Don’t get distracted by the phone while driving! Download a ‘Car Mode’ app so you can focus on getting where you need to go.

Two of the best Car Mode apps are Drivemode and Drivemode Max. Both of these offer similar features including talk-to-text, quick contacts, map assistance with built-in GPS navigation, and music integration. These two apps also share another feature; They disable non-driving related notifications through your car’s speakers. So if someone calls or texts you, it won’t play over Bluetooth like normal!

Navigation Apps

A good navigation app is very important for daily drivers. Navigating can be difficult if you don’t have a clear map of the area, especially in larger cities where traffic tends to get congested. Two great apps are Waze, which has an alert system that notifies users of nearby accidents or police officers, and Google Maps. Both of these provide turn-by-turn directions better than most GPS devices!

Car Accessories

Sometimes listening to music or hearing GPS directions isn’t enough. Other times there is too much noise outside the car to hear anything clearly over sound systems with subpar speakers… Fortunately, there are some accessories that may help! Bluetooth headsets are very popular because they allow drivers to talk on the phone hands-free while still maintaining full control of the car.

Have trouble hearing your phone calls over your sound system? Maybe try an FM Transmitter that plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter and transmits stereo FM signals to nearby radios for clearer calls. Then again, if you have a newer model vehicle that is Bluetooth capable then maybe just get a wireless speaker instead!

These are only some of the many accessories that can keep you entertained as a daily driver… If there are any other apps or accessories that should be included on this list please let us know in the comments below!
