Best Motorcycles, E-Bikes, and Scooters for City Commuters in 2021!

Best Motorcycles, E-Bikes, and Scooters for City Commuters in 2021!

The streets of twenty-first-century America are as congested as they had ever been and bikes, motorcycles, and scooters might be the solution! The streets are packed with cars, trucks, vans, and buses. All of these vehicles cause a lot of congestion and traffic jams that make even the smallest commute incredibly frustrating and unbearably long.

Luckily there have been developments in new ways of transportation that are both more eco friendly, faster, and in most cases, more affordable! We are talking about motorcycles, e-Bikes, scooters, and other transport vehicles.

Motorcycles (and scooters)

Motorcycles and scooters have been an alternative way to get around since the 1900s. Although they may not be as popular here in America, they seem to be very common throughout Asia and Europe!  We predict that over 10% of American commuters will be riding motorcycles or scooters by 2027… which is a large increase from current numbers!

Motorcycles provide the mobility of cars while being much smaller, easier to park, and going through traffic jams. If we reach peak oil and the price of gas skyrockets, scooters and motorcycles will become more popular.

The best part? They get great gas mileage, up to 100mpg! Although this doesn’t seem like much compared to traditional cars (which get about 20-30 mpg on average) it is incredibly impressive when you consider how little space a motorcycle takes up and what kind of acceleration they have.  You can usually find 50cc bikes for around $500 or less which can travel about 100 miles per gallon – not too bad! Each car costs over $9,000/year in maintenance and fuel… while motorcycles cost just $1,200/year in maintenance and almost nothing in fuel.

Keep your eyes open for Harley Davidson’s new electric motorcycle – which will be available to consumers by 2022!

E-Bikes

E-bikes are another form of transport that has become more and more popular throughout Europe (especially in Germany). The trend of E-bikes is slowly making its way over to America. We predict that the number of e-bike commuters will double between 2022 and 2030 so keep your eye out!  A lot of people who use e-bikes actually commute on the weekend as well, so they may not show up on any report on how many people ride bikes but you can certainly expect to see them around town on their e-bike during the weekends!

An e-bike is a normal bicycle that is attached to an electric motor which makes it easier to travel long distances and uphill. They can handle most types of terrain except for off-road, but you could always use panniers on your bike as well!  E-bikes are much lighter than motorcycles or cars so they don’t create pollution and traffic jams as the other vehicles do.  If there was ever a time to invest in an e-bike it would be now, because if we reach peak oil and gas prices skyrocket these will go up in value.

eScooters

They are the newest form of transportation and frankly, we see them as a revolution to how we travel around.  You can take an e-scooter to work if you live close enough, ride it to the subway stop, and then ride the subway home. If you don’t want to worry about parking your bike/motorcycle at a busy metro station, just bring an e-scooter with you into the train with you! Isn’t that awesome?

The speed limit for most roads in America is 35 mph which makes it much easier to cross-town quickly without worrying about traffic jams – not only do they accelerate quickly but they also have an “intermediate” mode, which means that it will start accelerating at a speed of exactly 20 mph – this way you don’t have to worry about going too fast and causing an accident!

As a commuter vehicle e-scooters are much more practical than motorcycles – since they require less effort to ride you can use them for longer distances.  In 2022 we expect to see around 5% of Americans using scooters as their primary commuting method – there is no doubt in our minds that this number will be increasing every year after.

The cars we drive every day cost us $9,000/year (in maintenance and gas) yet e-scooters only cost $500/year (most maintenance costs are included in the initial price).

“E-scooters are perfect for city commuting because they cost about the same as a car but take up way less space,” said Arnaud Schwan, President of Renault. “If you have an e-scooter, then you can use it on your daily commute to work and all around town without worrying about parking! It’s great!” he added.  E-Scooters are also much easier to park than motorcycles or cars so if there is ever a time to buy one it would be now.
